- "Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ruby Fjeldsted, age 90, passed away quietly, in the early morning, February 15, 1993 of causes incident to age.
Born July 31, 1902 in Centerfield, Utah, the daughter of John Henry (Harry) Roylance and Esther Garrick Roylance, Ruby attended elementary school in Centerfield and high school in Provo, Utah. She was telephone operator in Gunnison, Utah and played the piano in Gilbert Fjedsted's Dance Orhestra. Ruby and Gilbert were married February 28, 1923 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died October 12, 1981. The first year of their marriage they lived in San Francisco, California, returned to Centerfield, Utah and moved to Gunnison, Utah in 1936.
Ruby was an active member of the LDS Church, holding many positions in Mutual and Relief Society. Ruby and Gilbert helped put on many plays, musicals and minstrels while in the Centerfield Ward. Ruby was an accomplished pianist, who donated countless hours through music service. She was stake and ward organist for many years, and accompanied the many choirs and choruses. Gilbert directed through the years. Music was very important in their lives.
She was gifted in many forms of handiwork. Family and friends were recipients of these beautiful handicraft items, needlepoint, quilts, sweaters, afgans and dresses. Ruby was an excellent cook and a beautiful hostess. She entertained extensively family, friends and Gilbert's business associates.
She is survived by three daughters, Marion (James) Peterson, Salina, Utah; Lois Jean (Willard J.) Mounteer, Sandy, Utah; and GilBerta (Lynn J) Hendrickson, Baountiful; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and sister Arvilla (Alton) Jensen, Gunnison; preceded in death by her husband, parents, one granddaugter; Louse Richards; two brothers, Vernon and Garrick Roylance.
