- Kimball, Edward A. Age 80. Born 5/20/38, passed away 2/28/19. Grew up in NE Minneapolis, graduated from Edison High School, enlisted in the Navy and was accepted into the Submarine Service. Following his four-year tour of duty, he married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn (Toft), graduated from St. Cloud State with a degree in Education and taught in Minneapolis for many years, owned Kimball Construction, was active in his church, and was a Mason. Ed was proud to serve in the Navy for 40 years both on active duty and in the reserves, retiring as a Commander. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, golf, woodworking, traveling and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an awesome & loving dad & grandpa ("Buddy"). Preceded in death by parents, Pardon and Henrietta Kimball; siblings Donald, Mary, Muriel, Paul, JoAnn, Alice, and Sandra. Survived by Carolyn; children, Charlotte (Dave) Steinke, Angela Goetzke, and Jonathan (Kimberly) Kimball; grandchildren Andrew and Samantha Goetzke, Megan and Molly Kimball, and Abby Steinke; great-grandson Elijah Goetzke; companion, Marlene Lawson, and many other loving relatives and friends. Memorial Service 11am Thursday March 7th at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, visitation one hour prior. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
