  Elmer Dean Flannigan passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the age of 89 at the Sanilac Medical Facility in Sandusky, MI. He was born on September 1, 1927 in Marlette, MI, the son of Hiram Isaac and Anna Elizabeth (Hillaker) Flannigan. Elmer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marlette for over 65 years. He was a crop and dairy farmer for over 30 years. Later he worked in a welding factory and also did furniture refinishing and chair caning. Elmer loved animals and was a member of the Sanilac County Sheriff Posse for many years and a 4-H leader for horses. He enjoyed trap and skeet shooting and won several trophies for his skill. Elmer was also an excellent wood carver and created many beautiful pieces of work. He was a wonderful husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all! Elmer is survived by his wife of 68 ½ years, Lois Jean (Morgan) Flannigan of Marlette, MI; daughter, Janie (Dr. Kevin) Crain of Milford, MI; son, Dean (Christiane Wuyts) Flannigan of Advance, NC; two granddaughters, Jacqueline Flannigan of Greensboro, NC and Nicole Flannigan of London, England. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lee, Harold and Lloyd; and his daughter, Patricia Ann. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Marsh Funeral Chapel in Marlette, MI with visitation beginning at 1PM until time of the service.

Flannigan. son of Mr, and Mrs. Hiram Flannigan, June 12 in First Presbyterian church with Rev. A. A. Amstutz officiating. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore an aqua gabardine box suit with black accessories. Her corsage was of pink rosebuds. Miss Maxine Fellows, Traverse City, Mich., was maid of honor and chose a gray suit with navy blue accessories and a corsage of yellow rosebuds. Miss Linda Morgan, sister of the bride, was ring-bearer. She wore a pink dress with a corsage of pink rosebuds. Lloyd Flannigan assisted his brother as best man. Harold-Flannigan and Lee Flannigan, brothers of the groom, were ushers. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Morgan wore a dusty rose dress with black accessories. Mrs. Flannigan wore a black and white figured dress and wnite accessories. Each wore a corsage of sweet peas. A reception was held in the church dining room for more than 150 relatives, guests and friends. The bride wore a pink linen dress when the couple left for a week's honeymoon in northern Michigan.
