    "Chris J. Gutschow, 85, of Fremont died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at the Nebraska Medical Center.
    Services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
    Chris J. Gutschow was born May 27, 1928, in Blair, to Chris F. and Marie (Nielsen) Gutschow.
    He was raised in Blair and graduated from Blair High School.
    He began working for Kelly Ryan in Blair as a welder. He started working for Missouri Valley Machine in 1949, first as a mechanic then service manager. He worked for Missouri Valley Machine in Omaha, Norfolk, and Sioux City, Iowa, until 1959.
    In 1960, he moved to Fremont. He was co-owner of Fremont Heavy Equipment until 1980 and received the Case Service Award. During this time, he served as a Boy Scout leader.
    He then worked for Buffalo Machinery in Omaha until 1982 and Landpower Equipment from 1982 to 1985. He also worked for Federal Crop Insurance as a sales agent from 1985 to 1987. He worked for Reutzel Pipe Line as a mechanic until the early 1990s.
    He was also at one time a stock car mechanic at Peony Park in Omaha.
    During his life, Mr. Gutschow had many passions. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, wildlife and reading daily scripture. He always had to have something to tinker with. His greatest passion was fishing, from the time he was a boy until this last summer.
    He is survived by his wife, Kay, of Fremont; sons: Chris and wife Nancy Gutschow of Fremont, Terry and wife Brenda Gutschow of Omaha and Dale and wife Pam Gutschow of Waterloo; stepchildren: Ron and wife Linda Tracy of Omaha, Darryl Tracy and special friend Diane Howard of Omaha, Christy Grassmeyer and special friend Lee Fowler of Omaha, Lisa and husband Mark Stork of Fremont, Ken Tracy and fiancée Kelly Bradley of Blair; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister Katherine Giesselmann of Fremont.
    He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
    Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund, Dodge County Humane Society and the American Cancer Society."

    "Chris L. Gutschow, age 72, of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, at Methodist Fremont Health. He was born April 8, 1949, in Omaha to Chris J and Vivian (McDonald) Gutschow.
    Chris grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont Senior High School in 1968. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Feb. 7, 1969, completing his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. After basic training, he was assigned to Okinawa and Korea as an aircraft mechanic during Vietnam. He completed his service at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi on Jan. 2, 1973.
    He married Nancy Clark in August of 1971 in Fremont. Chris worked for his father at Fremont Heavy Equipment, Land Power Company as a mechanic and then was a self-employed mechanic in Fremont for many years.
    Chris was a caring husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend. He took great pride in his family. He loved attending his kids and grandkids events. Since retiring 5 years ago, Chris has enjoyed traveling with his wife across the U.S. and Canada. He enjoyed spending time with his friends helping them restore their classic cars. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting sports, walking his dog Khloe, and talking with his family and friends.
    Chris was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont and EVRC (Elkhorn Valley Rifle Club) in Arlington.
    He is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter, Kate (Tony) Tacner all of Fremont; son, Chris G. (Lisa) Gutschow of Elkhorn; brothers, Terry (Brenda) Gutschow of Omaha and Dale (Pam) Gutschow of Valley; 3 grandchildren, Parker and Grant Gutschow and Conner Tacner; and many nieces and nephews.
    Preceded in death by his parents.
    Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Chris would enjoy anyone coming to please drive a classic car for the procession. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., at Memorial Chapel, 2170 N. Somers Ave., Fremont and continues on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m., at the church. Interment with Military Honors will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Service will be livestreamed on Moser’s website.
    Memorials are suggested to the family for a future designation."
