    Nekrolog:
"David Grant Monsen was born May 18, 1946 to Grant and Marian Monsen; the second of 9 children. He graduated from Altamont High School in 1964. David served a 2 year mission in the Western Canadian Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After his mission, David returned to Utah State. Always a very intelligent man, the lessons he learned from his mission in how to study served him well, frequently appearing on the honor roll. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering Technologies. David was sealed for time and all eternity to his sweetheart, Sharon Louise Woodward, on September 19th, 1974 in the Manti Temple. Together they had 7 children, 4 sons and 3 daughters.
Growing up on a farm in the Uintah Basin, David developed a love for the land and adventure. One of his favorite things to do as a young man was to take horseback pack trips into the High Uinta Mountains. David always said that if you can drive there it’s not camping. He started helping with farm chores at a young age and the work ethic he gained there served him well throughout his life. After graduating from Utah State in 1971, David had many interesting and diverse careers. Over the years he worked in different capacities in aeronautics, engineering and ranching. These jobs took David and his family to Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, and Wyoming. This gave the family many opportunities to do missionary work, make friends, and have many varied experiences.
David was an incredible role model of love, optimism and faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ. He served his church in many callings without question and with all his heart, whether as Bishop or as a primary teacher. Music was very important to David; he loved to whistle and sing and enjoyed listening to his daughters and granddaughters practice and perform, usually with tears in his eyes. David loved his animals, especially the Percheron horses he raised and trained for many years. One of his favorite memories to share was of driving the stage coach in the Meeker 4th of July parade with a four up team. David was always busy fixing things, working in his garden, and playing with his many chainsaws. He especially loved hunting and being outdoors with his boys. He loved to read anything he came in contact with, he was interested in everything.
David passed away at home from cancer on March 9th, 2022. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Sharon, son Loren, parents Grant and Marian Monsen, brothers John and Rowen, and a granddaughter Laryssa. He is survived by his children Melynda (Rory), Myron (Heather), Gaylen, Nathan (Pamela), Elizabeth (Joshua S.), and Bonnie (Joshua D.) with 25 grandchildren (and counting) and his siblings Ann (Paul), Marie (Virgil), Dorine (Gary), Rudy (Julia), Judy (Brent), Jerry (Renae), and sister-in-law Susan.
David deeply mourned the loss of his wife after 44 years of marriage. While we will miss his loving and encouraging presence in our lives, we are grateful for the knowledge that they are reunited and that our family is eternal and, we too, will see them again. We are grateful to Tami with Huntsman Hospice at Home for her love and kindness. Her visits gave Dad something to look forward to each week.
Services will be held March 19th, 2022 with a graveside at 11:30am at Meeker Highland Cemetery (265 County Rd 4) followed by a memorial service at the Meeker Ward Building (903 3rd Street) Meeker, CO."
