    "Lisle G. Brown served for more than 40 years as curator of Special Collections at the Morrow Library.
    He graduated from the University of Utah with a B.A. in Fine Arts in painting and drawing, earned a M.A. of Library Science from the University of Oregon, a M.A. in history and religious studies from Marshall and completed an internet specialization program at Marshall.
    Brown was the driving force behind the creation and development of the Special Collections, helping locate a variety of collections unique to the Huntington, Marshall and Tri-State area. He created online computer exhibits on West Virginia history.
    Lisle was featured in more than 20 publications, including “West Virginia: A Historical Resource Guide”, a variety of research reviews and articles on Mormon history. He served on the West Virginia Historic records Advisory Board."

    Lisle "G" Brown, 69, died June 14, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington.
    He was born October 15, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lisle Grant and Jenny Lind Myrup Brown. He married Merry Janet Lewis, September 9, 1965 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple and they made their home in Salt Lake City, Utah, moving to Huntington, WV in November 1972. Lisle then began work as the curator of Special Collections at Marshall University, serving the community for over 40 years. He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the West German Mission, as Bishop of the Huntington Second Ward, as High Counselor, Counselor in the Stake Presidency, and Stake Patriarch of the Huntington WV Stake. The hours he spent with his family, extended family, and church family were the highlight of his life. He loved to study the scriptures and church history, as well as history of all types.
    He is survived by his wife, Merry J. Brown; one son, Jared G. Brown, Nashville, TN; three daughters, Maren E. Brown, Huntington; Carlie E. (David B) Edwards, Provo, UT; Jennie L. (Martin L.) Ackley, Augusta, GA; four grandchildren, Dylan and Malaia Edwards, and Sierra and Abigail Ackley; brother Philip M (Mary) Brown, Murray, UT; twin sister Linda (Nick) Lundstrom, Roosevelt, UT; brother-in-law, Finn (Mary Jo) Hansen, Cottonwood Heights, UT; and many special nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Norine Hansen and one grandson, Ezekiel Joseph Ackley.
    Funeral services will be Friday, June 21st at 11:00 a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5640 Shawnee Dr., Huntington. Visitation will be at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday at the church after 10 a.m. Burial, Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington.
