- "Former local Resident, dies
Jens F. Toft, 81 of 4806 Saratoga St. Omaha, formerly a resident of the Missouri Valley community man years, died Sunday afternoon at Booth Memorial Hospital in Omaha. He had been in failing health for the past two years and was a patient in the hospital for the last 5 weeks.
Rites here
The body is at the Hennesey & Van Cleve Funeraal Home in Missouri Valley where services will be held at 2 p. m., Wednsday. The Rev. M. Wyatt, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church in Omaha will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery here.
Mr. Toft was born in Skotrup, Denmark on Oct 24, 1877.
Ex-Railroad Man
He was married to Johanna Thompsen in Lokken, Denmark on april 11 1902. They came to this country a few months later, locating in Missoury Valley where Mr. Toft started working in the car department of North Western Railroad. In addition to his railroad work, he also farmed 3 miles north of Missoury Valley for a number of years and then moved to town.
Mr. Toft retired from railroad work in 1945 and was later employed as a custodian in the Missouri Valley school system for some time. He and his wife moved to Omaha about 10 years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Johanna of Omaha; three sons, Harvey and Raymond of Omaha and Delbert of Minneapolis, Minn., One daughter, Mrs Hartold McCart of Omaha; two brothers in Denmark; two sisters, one of whom is in Denmark, and Mrs. Rikka Thompsen of White, S.D.: 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild".
