- Glen Leroy Frerichs was born January 3, 1929, at Bostwick, Nebraska, the second son of Johannes Hinrich (Hans) and Anna Marie (Frederiksen) Frerichs. He departed this life on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at his home in rural Nuckolls County, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 5 days. Glen grew up in the Bostwick/Nelson, Nebraska communities and graduated valedictorian of the class of 1946 from Nelson High School. Glen served with the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953 with the 630th Engineer Light Equipment (ELE), 19th combat group, 8th Army, as a Master Sergeant. Glen was united in marriage to Beulah Parsons on April 12, 1953, at the Methodist Church, Superior, Nebraska. This union was blessed with the birth of four daughters. Beulah passed away on May 2, 1992. Glen then was married to Dorothy Beck Jensby on November 27, 1993, at United Methodist Church, Superior. Dorothy preceded Glen in death on October 30, 2007.
Glen was a lifelong farmer in Nuckolls County. He dearly loved working and being on his farm, raising cattle and his crops. Glen always enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards when time permitted, but he never allowed any of this to diminish his first love--that for his family.Glen was a 60-year member of the United Methodist Church, Superior and served on several committees and boards throughout the years. He was also a member of the Danish Brotherhood, the VFW, the American Legion, and had made an Honor Flight to Washington, DC in March 2014. Glen also served on the Nelson School Board for many years.
He was preceded in death by wives Beulah and Dorothy, his parents, infant sister Margaret, infant daughter Norma, great-grandson Isaak Rivera, brother-in-law Garold Parsons, and sisters-in-law Betty Frerichs and Fern Shelburne.
Glen is survived by children Glenda and Neal Hinz, Lincoln; Joyce Rivera, Omaha; Carol and Marty Williams, Liberty, Missouri. Special friend, Joline Allington, Superior. Stepchildren - Carolyn (Jensby) and Roger Druba, Falls City; Morris and Mary Jane Jensby, Salt Lake City, UT; Kent & Crystal Jensby, Superior; Beth (Jensby) and Ken Greenstreet, Fountain Hills, AZ; Lori (Jensby) and Mitch Linder, Aurora, CO. Grandchildren/Great-grandchildren - Chad Hinz and daughter Olivia; Jason Hinz; Sara (Hinz), Jarrod and Evalina Nettifee; Jared Hinz; Matthew Rivera; Nathan, Emily, Keegan and Caleb Rivera; Renee Rivera; Marissa and Cydnee Williams. Step Grandchildren/Great-Grandchildren - Craig, Francisca, Dakota and Ty Barrett; Michelle, Jimmy, and Emily DeFrancisco; Jeff, Lindsay, J.T., Lane and Kasey Druba; Brett, Liz, Easton, and Avery Druba; Ann (Jensby) and Tobi Hutterer; Amy (Jensby), Scott and Lia Schroeder; Alyss Jensby; Mandy (Jensby), Tony, Olivia, Dylan, Breanna, Clara, Trevyn, Jaxtyn, Austyn, and Zayn Falk; Leisha (Jensby), Trey and Tanner Ahrens; Chaz and BreAnna Jensby; Chase and Taylor Jensby; Kreigh and Rainer Greenstreet; Riley and Dawson Linder. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 12, 2015, at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Superior, Nebraska with the Rev. Jocelyn Tupper officiating. Burial with military honors was at the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska.
