- Johannes Heinrich "Hans" Frerichs, 94, died Saturday at the Superior Good Samaritan Center Services were Tuesday at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel, Superior, with the Rev. L Patterson Culligan officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior.
Frerichs, son of John, and Margaret Frerichs, was born Aug. 11,1900, at Hooksiel, Germany. He was the third son in a family of four sons and one daughter. He grew up at the farm home of his parents and was educated in a German Lutheran Parochial School. Frerichs was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at age 15 in Germany.
He emigrated from Germany to the United States by ship in May of 1923, under the sponsorship of John Bargen, Cadams. Frerichs started to farm for himself northeast of Superior in 1926. He was united in marriage to Anna Marie Frederiksen, April 16,1926. They moved to the Mt. Clare area in the spring of 1928 where they farmed two different farms until 1967 when, they retired and moved to Superior. He resided at the Good Samaritan Center since the death of his wife in January. He made one return trip to Germany, staying about three months in 1967.
Frerichs was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three, brothers; and his infant daughter, Margaret Ann.
Survivors include four sons, Alan, Vacaville, Calif., Glen and Gene, rural Superior, and Bob, Lincoln; a sister Anna Jacobs; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great-grandchildren.
Megrue-Price Funeral Home, Superior, was in charge of the arrangements.
