Week's Illness Proves Fatal to South Cortland Lad
George H. Hansen, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans C. Hansen of South Cortland, died yesterday afternoon at 4 at the VerNooy Sanitarium in this city after a week's illness which was attributed to typhoid fever. While the source of the ailment has not been determined, it was stated this afternoon that the drinking water used by the family was to be analyzed.
The youth, who was the oldest of a family of three boys, was born at Alden, Minn., on July 15, 1914. Thirteen years ago the family moved to Virgil and for the past six years have been residents of South Cortland.
The son was a student last year in his second year of the junior high department of Cortland high school.
He is survived by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Leon Hansen, all of South Cortland.
The funeral service will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at the Beard Memorial Home in this city. The interment will be made in the family plot of the Cortland Rural cemetery.
