- "Ellen Hansen, Longtime Area Resident, Dies
Mrs. H. Ellen Hansen, 82, of 42 Church St., died Wednesday evening at Cortland Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was the widow of Hans Hansen, who died in 1966.
Mrs. Hansen was born Oct. 26, 1890, in Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Marie Nelson Hansen.
She had been a resident of the Cortland area since 1918 and a member of the United Presbyterian Church here since 1943. She had been a member of Cortland Senior Citizens since 1968 and a member of Fourscore Club for the past three years.
Mrs. Hansen formerly operated Hansen's Place restaurant in South Cortland, with her husband and sons for 15 years prior to retiring in 1941.
She was also employed as a housekeeper for Malcolm Bennett for 27 years.
Surviving are two sons, Leon E. Hansen of Cortland and Robert M. Hansen of Homer; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer. The Rev. Hugh K. Rose, pastor of United Presbyterian Church officiating. Spring interment will be in Cortland Rural Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home."
