GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Marian J Arrasmith, 83, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Grand Island, died Saturday, May 10, 2003.
Memorial services will be held June 21 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Grand Island.
Mrs. Arrasmith was born Sept. 20, 1919, at Grand Island to Archie and Helen (Lykke) Bradstreet.
Survivors of the immediate family include her son, Stephen L. Arrasmith of Longmont, Colo.; and a daughter, Carole J. Miller of Glendale, Ariz.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In 1937, she graduated from Grand Island Senior High School and later completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She was a kindergarten teacher for the Grand Island Public School system for 29 years and retired in 1983. In 2002, Marian and her two children re-opened the Bradstreet Livestock Commission Company, founded by her grandfather, Tom Bradstreet, in 1903. Marian moved to Glendale, Ariz., in 1999 to be near her daughter.
Mrs. Arrasmith was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, a longtime member of the Liederkranz and the Gamma Phi Beta Mortar Board. She was voted Miss Grand Island in 1936, was an avid golfer for over 50 years and a member of the Riverside Golf Club, winning the Riverside Women's Golf Championship for 10 years."
