Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 11, 2021, at Llano East Cemetery. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 11, 2021, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with Bill Ivins officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Jerald graduated from Palisade High School. He attended Duke University in Durham, N.C., Columbia University in New York City, N.Y., and Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, N.E. He graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree, taking advanced studies in Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
Jerald joined the Naval Air Corps at the age of 17 where he served for four years, retiring from the military service as a Lieutenant JG. He served as captain of a PT boat doing submarine patrol in the shipping lanes off of New York. Later, he did air-sea rescue duty recovering downed pilots in the Pacific theater until the Japanese surrendered. Upon return to the United States, he was in charge of retiring destroyer escort ships in San Diego, C.A.
Jerald married Dorothy Lykke in 1947.
Jerald’s working career was with the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America, the gas division of Midcon Corporation. He retired in 1986 after 39 years as Area manager over 8 states. Annually, for several years, at the request of Oklahoma University, he gave a 2-week seminar for undergraduate students.
After retirement, Jerald did volunteer work for St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, and one daughter.
Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Ingram and her husband Terry Ingram, of Bedford, T.X., and Virginia Marable and husband Gary Marable, of Canyon, T.X.; six grandchildren, Angela Ingram, Brian Ingram, Dr. Eric Marable and wife Jennifer, granddaughter Jennifer and husband Dr. Presheet Patkar, Ian Marable and wife Mavy, and Blake Marable; and eight great-grandchildren.
