- "Toft Adelbert E. (Bert) Toft, age 94, of Mpls, passed on suddenly, but peacefully in his own home. Preceded in death by beloved wife of 61 years, Velma. Survived by loving daughter, Carolyn Kimball; grandchildren, Charlotte Kimball, Angela (John) Goetzke, Jonathan (Kim) Kimball; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Samantha Goetzke, Megan and Molly Kimball; and many dear nieces & nephews. Bert was born in Iowa, lived in Omaha for many years, where he met and married Velma, started his career with Western Electric and served in the Nebraska National Guard. He was transferred to Mpls in 1948 and retired after more than 30 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. "Grandpa Bert" dearly loved his family and friends, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Service Monday, March 1, 2004, 11 AM at the Werness Brothers Chapel, 3500 W. 50th St., Mpls. Visitation 4-7 PM Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004 at the chapel. Private interment, Lakewood Cemetery. WERNESS BROTHERS 3500 W. 50th St., Mpls 612-927-8641"
