- C"hris E. Nielsen, 1253 Iowa Ave., S.E. of Huron, S.D., passed away Thursday, May 1st at the St. John Regional Medical Center in Huron, S.D. at the age of 80 years.
Funeral services were held at Aaseth Funeral Home in Huron on May 3rd at 10:00 a.m. Rev. C. Richard Everson officiated. On Monday, May 5th at 2 p.m. Rev, Sanford Sorgen officiated at the services at the Bendorf Funeral Home. Burial was in the Blair Cemetery.
Chris E. Nielsen born November 10th, 1894, in Denmark, the son of Mrs. And Mrs. Chris Nielsen. At the age of 17 he came to the United States and lived in Blair, Nebraska. He was employed as a meat cutter for Council Oaks Stores at Sioux City, Canton, S.D., and Huron, S.D. He retired in 1962.
Mr. Nielsen was married to Lillian C. Ramsey on February 17, 1920 at Fremont. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Blair and was a World War I veteran.
Survivors besides his wife Lillian are four sisters, Mrs. Sopia Petersen, Mrs. Thorvald Jorgensen, Mrs. Carl Graverholt and Mrs. Marian Stricklett, all of Blair. He was preceded in death by five sisters and one son.
Pallbearers were: Howard Hoier, Earl Hoier, Leonard Hoier, Fred Gutschow, Elvin Hoir and Wilford Gutschow, all nephews of Mr. Nielsen.
