- "Connie LaRue Fieldsted, age 78, of Altamont, UT, passed away May 22, 2013 at Uintah Basin Medical Center. Connie was born March 23, 1935 in Mountain Home to Floyd Reed Lyons and Vay (Doll) West Lyons. She spent her childhood in Mountain Home where she attended grade school before graduating from Altamont High School in 1953. During high school Connie was a member of the school orchestra and band, she carried her love of music with her throughout her life, playing piano for both Relief Society and Primary in the LDS Church. Connie married Robert Fieldsted in March of 1954, they moved several times the first few years of their marriage as Bob drove truck and worked several jobs in Utah and Wyoming. In 1964 they moved back to the Uintah Basin and worked on the farm for Bob's dad. In 1969 they bought part of the farm and settled down in Mt. Emmons where Connie lived until the time of her death. Bob and Connie had four sons, Brent born in 1954, Joe born in 1956, Mack born in 1958 and Mickey born in 1961. Connie had always been an active member in the LDS church and has served in several callings, including being in the Stake and Ward Relief Society Presidencies. Connie passed her love of the gospel onto her children and grandchildren. Her four sons, Brent, Joe, Mack and Mickey all served LDS missions, as well as having seven grandsons serve missions. Bob and Connie were active in the community throughout their lives. They both worked on the rodeos for the 4th and 24th of July celebrations. Connie was a member of the Saddlettes Riding Club, while Bob was President of the Roping club in Altamont. In 1965 they started the Western Boys Baseball Association in Altamont and Duchesne, an organization they served until Bob's death in 2007. Connie worked at Swasey's in Altamont for many years and could always be counted on to have a kind word and hug for all those who came into the store. Connie's family was the most important thing in her life. She never missed a birthday of her children or grandchildren, attended every important event she could, including graduations, weddings, and baby blessings, and worked hard to bring the family together every year during Christmas time. Connie is survived by sons, Brent (Marsha) Fieldsted, Roosevelt; Joe (Chanel) Fieldsted, Roosevelt; Mack (LoAnn) Fieldsted, Orem; Mick (Kathy) Fieldsted, Altamont; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren with two more to be born this year; sister, Lois Bleazard, Mountain Home; brother, Floyd Lyons, Altonah; brother, Phil Lyons, Heber. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Fieldsted, and a brother, Ned Reed Lyons. Funeral services will be held Tuesday May, 28th at the Altamont LDS Stake Center at 11 a.m.. Friends and family may call at the Hullinger Mortuary Monday, May 27th between 6 and 8 p.m. and Tuesday morning at the Stake Center between 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Mtn.
