  "George Ashton Richards, age 85, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away June 18, 1990 at his home in Sandy. He was born February 20, 1905 in Oakley, Utah to Albert Damon and Emily T. Ashton Richards. On January 14, 1946 he married Lois Jean Fjeldsted in the Manti LDS Temple. George was a High Priest in the LDS Church and served a mission to the Northern States, served in three bishoprics and many other capacities. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines. Survived by his wife, Jean, Sandy; five sons and three daughters and their spouses, Roger and Claudia Keddington, Murray, Utah; Phillip and Karen Richards, Conway and Annette Richards, Thomas and Linda Richards, David and Tammy Richards, Sheldon and Connie Berrett, all Sandy, Utah; Anthony and CeCille Hall, Lewiston, Utah; John and Kathy Richards, Sparks, Nevada; 21 grandchildren; brother, Ralph A. Richards, Orem, Utah; sister, Florence Saxton, West Valley City, Utah. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21, 1990, at 1:00 p.m. in the Mt. Jordan 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 8950 South 400 East, Sandy. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m., and Thursday, at the church, one hour prior to services. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery."
