- Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away on January 16, 2019 in Sandy. She was ninety-three.
Lois Jean was born September 4, 1925 to Gilbert L. Fjeldsted and E. Ruby Roylance in Centerfield. She graduated from Gunnison High School and attended LDS Business College.
She married George A. Richards on January 14, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were blessed with eight children: Claudia (Roger Keddington), Phillip (Karen), Conway (Annette), CeCille (Anthony Hall), Thomas (Linda), David (Tammy), John (Amber), and Connie Berrett. She had twenty-four grandchildren and fifty-eight great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. George passed away on June 18, 1990. She later married Willard (Bill) Mounteer.
She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in all of the auxiliary organizations, blessing the lives of others. She served a Family History Mission in the Michigan Detroit Mission from 1996-1998. She left us a great legacy of service to the Church, her neighborhood, and her family. She lived most of her adult life in Sandy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a sister, Marion (James Peterson); and a granddaughter, Louise Richards. She is survived by her children and a sister, GilBerta (Lynn Hendrickson).
The family would like to express gratitude to the kind people at Cedarwood Senior Living, who lovingly cared for her in her last years.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the Mount Jordan First Ward Chapel, 8950 South 400 East, Sandy. Services will begin at 12:00 p.m., with a viewing prior from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the Sandy City Cemetery.
