- "FERRON-Maureen Carol was born on a beautiful Spring day, April 20, 1952, to Keith and Helen Rasmussen Wright in Price, Utah. She passed away on November 5, 2021. She was 69.
Her parents were ecstatic to have a cute little red-haired girl, and her funny personality charmed everyone. By the time she was five or six she could speak, of course, but she did it so fast and unintelligibly that no one but Kenny could understand her. She would rattle off whatever she had to say, and everyone would look at him to provide a translation.
Maureen was gregarious and made friends wherever she went. There used to be a row of chairs in the little store in Clawson where the old people sat and visited, and they adored her. One of them told Helen that when Maureen came into the store, she just lit it up. She was very active and would set out for school neatly dressed and coiffed, but come home with her dress ripped and her hair every which way. In high school she was active in drama, athletics, and cheerleading, but by that time she was able to return home from school in approximately the same condition in which she left.
In 1971 she met and married a handsome young soldier, Jerry Copatch, and they became the proud parents of three boys. Those boys were the joy of her life, and when they presented her with beautiful little granddaughters, her happiness knew no bounds.
Maureen spent most of her life living in Ferron and loved the beauty of her surroundings, especially the desert. She took many trips out on the desert with her family and would often direct her son, Kevin, to the best spots to find petroglyphs and cactus blooms.
Maureen was always a hard worker and kept an immaculate house and a beautiful garden. After she began to work outside the home, she had a love-hate relationship with her jobs. Her job at the care center required a lot of heavy work, and she didn’t like that, but she loved the residents and staff. After she became a dispatcher for the Emery County Sheriff’s Office, she hated the long hours and crazy shifts, but adored “her” deputies and even unofficially adopted one of them. She excelled at her job and earned honors for her work during the Crandall Canyon mine disaster.
While working at her full-time jobs, she also served as an EMT for the Ferron ambulance for many years. Maureen had many friends, with whom she had many crazy adventures, and no one can think of anyone who didn’t like her.
Maureen was extremely selfless and she always put the needs of others before her own. Family was always her primary concern and she was always ready to help when they needed her.
We are confident that Maureen has been reunited with her loving parents, her beautiful niece Kelly, and the many loved ones who passed on before her.
She is survived by her three sons, her grandchildren, and her siblings. They, and her many nieces, nephews, and friends, will miss her terribly, but they know that she is happy, and that she will always be near to share their joys, and to bring them comfort and direction.
Funeral service, Saturday, November 13, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Blue Hills Chapel (on the hill in Ferron, 35 W 200 N) where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment, Ferron City Cemetery. ..."
