- "Finn Stenberg Hansen, age 76, passed away September 1, 2015 in Murray, Utah. He was born July 11, 1939 in Aalborg, Denmark to Peter Stenberg and Gerda Sevila Pedersen Hansen.
Finn graduated from West High School. He married Norine Brown April 26, 1963 in the Manti LDS Temple. Norine passed away July 20, 1989. He married Marijo Estey August 2, 1990 in the Jordan River LDS Temple.
Finn was a member of the Utah National Guard for over 20 years and was a recipient of the Minuteman Award. He worked at Questar retiring after 30 years. He enjoyed being involved in track and field competitions. He measured the Deseret News Marathon for 26 years. He also volunteered in the 1984, 1996 and 2002 Olympics. He was inducted in to the USA Track and Field Association Hall of Fame in 2009.
Finn was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a young man he served a mission in Denmark and later with Marijo in the West Virginia mission. He served in several callings including in bishoprics and as a ward and stake clerk. After retirement he loved family history work and shared his passion with others.
He is survived by his wife, Marijo; children, Christian (Jeanette), Lara, Erik (Kris); step-daughter, Robin (Rich) Tanasi; step-sons, Trey Picou, Matt Picou; 10 grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, Elizabeth, Kimberlie and Johnathan Hansen, Jalen Paulos, Brandon, Chase and Adalyn Picou, and Vincent Tanasi; brothers, John (Karen) Hansen, Keith Hansen; sister, Carol (Richard) Benson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Norine.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 5th at 11:00 am at the Cottonwood Heights Stake Center, 6890 So. Whitmore Way. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 am prior to services. Interment will follow in the Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
