- John Howard Korstad, May 4, 1916 – December 25, 2018.
At 102 years young, Howard passed away peacefully on December 25, 2018. He was born to Hans and Henrietta Korstad in Meeting Creek, Alberta. Howard is survived by his wife of 72 years, Betty; brother Bob, children Rick (Shirley) and Rob (Sue); grandchildren: Sherry (Robbie), Holly (Josh), Braden; great-grandchildren: Sean, Kara, Larsen, Soren, and Torben as well as many relatives and friends.
In 1940, Howard (Howie) moved to BC to begin work as a logger. Howard served his country as an aircraft mechanic during WWII. Living in Harrison Mills, Howard was an involved member of his community. He was always quick to assist others and was the quintessential handyman. Howard enjoyed spending time with friends and family, floor curling, and telling stories about his youth.
Howard was loved by many and will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit. He was grateful to spend his final years with the wonderful people at Harrison Pointe in Langley.
A celebration of life will be held on January 27th at 1 pm in the Agassiz Friendship House at 7272 Morrow Road in Agassiz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
