- Aage G. Schroder, Jr., 82, of Cape Coral died Tuesday September 6, 2005, at his home. The son of the late Aage and Louise (nee Bacon) Schroder, he was born June 21, 1923 in Savannah, GA. Aage graduated from the Benedictine Military Academy, Class of 1942.
He joined the Army Air Corp that same year and transferred to the 82nd Airborne (Ft. Benning, GA )in 1943. He served with the 82nd Airborne from the invasion of Normandy to the occupation of Berlin. In 1946 he married Jane McRrae of Savannah who preceded him in death in 1976.
In 1959 the Schroders were twelfth family to move to Cape Coral. Aage was instrumental in starting many organizations and groups in the early days of Cape Coral such as the, Cape Coral Cruise Club, Cape Coral Shopping Center, Cape Coral Bank, and Palmetto Pine Country Club. He also owned and operated Southern Pool Builders from 1959 to 1966.
Survivors include his three sons; Aage G. (Edwina) III, Gainesville, Fl. Leighton (Bobbie), Atlanta, GA, and Chris (Wendy), Cape Coral. One brother Oliver B. (Betty) Schroder, Savannah, GA. One sister Sara S. Harrington, Ft. Myers, four grandchildren Cory, Jill, Bret, and Brooke, one nephew Oliver B. Schroder Jr. and one niece Elizabeth Samoluk.
Funeral Services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Friday September 9, 2005 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral with Dr. H. Timothy Halverson Officiating. Burial will follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday) between the hours of 6:00 & 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Assoc. or a charity of choice. Arrangements by the Metz Chapel of Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Homes & Crematory, Cape Coral. .
