- "Helen Margaret Darre of Kenosha, WI, formerly of Gurnee, IL, died on January 7, 2018 at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha. She was born in Chicago on August 17, 1932, the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (nèe Ellis) Kiefer.
She met the love of her life, Roy Darre, while they were both working at Sears, and they married in Chicago on January 30, 1954. They moved to Wisconsin, eventually settling in Salem, where they raised a family of four children together until Roy's death in 1975.
Helen was an inspiring teacher for 34 years, most recently at St. Peter's School in Antioch, retiring in 1997. She had a gift for seeing and developing the hidden talents in each student. This was true in all her life. She loved to hear people's stories. She was a good listener and a wise counselor. Always optimistic and with a good sense of humor, she was most often laughing at herself. She also had a strong faith in God that helped her survive tragedies like the premature losses of Roy and her son, Tom, with strength and grace. Most of all, she was the most loving and supportive mother and grandmother that anyone could ask for.
She is sadly missed by children, Annie (Gary), Pete (April), and Susie; grandchildren, Mike, Stephanie (Greg), Zachary, Kristen, Tony (Emma), Megan, Mallory, Katie (Josh), and Erik; great-grandchildren, Keller, Azveraynia, Zellarreya , Zachary, and Jackson.
In addition to her parents, husband, Roy, and son, Tom, she was preceded in death by her six siblings.
The family would like to thank Library Terrace Assisted Living for the kind and compassionate care they gave to our mom in the last few years of her life.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St., Antioch, IL. Interment will immediately follow in Hillside Cemetery, Antioch..." (gengivet i Findagrave.com)
