- Shirley Ann Harms, 82, of Brookings, SD, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at the Brookings Health System, Brookings, SD. Private family memorial services have been set for 11 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2020, at Our Savior’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. ... Shirley Ann (Dubbelde) Harms was born April 22, 1938, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Leo and Minnie (Bramstedt) Dubbelde.
Shirley was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s, Larchwood, IA. After attending country school Shirley spent her time helping on the family farm where she grew up, four miles west of Larchwood, IA. She also worked for a short time at Otis Radio Electric Company, in Canton, SD, before she got married.
On Sept. 11, 1971, she was united in marriage to Robert Harms, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They made their home on the Harms Family Farm, north of Brookings, SD. She worked side by side with Robert, farming and raising their 5 children.
She was a member of Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brookings. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, sewing and especially baking her famous angel food cakes for every occasion.
Survived by her husband, Robert; her children, Lana (Brian) Dykstra of Brookings, SD, Leon (Gwen) Harms of Bruce, SD, Darlene (Tony) Wilson of Brookings, SD, Glenn Harms, Linda Harms both of Brookings, SD; her grandchildren, Ashley (Logan) Triebwasser of Volga, SD Jonathan (Michelle) Dykstra, Ryan Wilson, Kaitlyn Dykstra and Austin Dykstra all of Brookings, SD; one great-grandson, Brady Triebwasser; two brothers, Paul (Donna) Dubbelde of Valley Springs, SD and Donald (Louise) Dubbelde of Larchwood, IA; two sisters, Janet Ostronic of Omaha, NE and Diane Fendrich of Mitchell, SD; a sister-in-law, Arla (Dennis) Reed of Brookings, SD; two brothers-in-law, Roger Harms of Wyoming, MN and Richard Harms of Brookings, SD, along with many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harm and Gladys Harms; a brother -in-law, George C. Ostronic and two nieces, Darla Dubbelde and Michelle Raske. (Med portrætfoto)
