James Allen DeBoer, 80, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away September 1, 2022 at Avera McKennan Hospital with his family at his side. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 25th at Tuthill House in Tuthill Park (3500 South Cliff Ave, Sioux Falls, SD) from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.
Jim was born on April 10, 1942 on a farm outside Madison, South Dakota to Alvin and Bernice DeBoer. He received his education in Madison and farmed in the area for a number of years. He later moved to Sioux Falls and drove a fuel truck for Howes Oil Company until retirement. After retirement, he started working for Barrett Jackson Car Auction Company.
He married his best friend and love of his life, Nancy, on 12-12-12 at 12:12 pm on Superstition Mountain in Mesa, Arizona. Together, they became part of the Barrett Jackson Core and Travel team working car auctions across the United States. They recently also joined the core team for Mag Car Auction Company out of Reno, Nevada.
While living in Mesa, Arizona, Jim enjoyed shuffleboard, hiking club, playing cards and potlucks with many good friends.
Jim’s greatest pleasure was helping the less fortunate. Jim belonged to a men’s service club called “Squires.” He spent 100’s of hours collecting food, clothing and quilts, which he delivered to Emerson School. He loved the monthly breakfast that the lovely mothers prepared for the volunteers.
Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy; one son, Curt (Dawn) DeBoer; one daughter, Cathy (Brent) Miller; three step daughters, Debra (Jim) Erb, Tammy (Jeff) Lanners, Shawn Hofer; 3 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren and 24 step great grandchildren." (med porrætfoto)
