Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown.
Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 'Time for Sharing' at 7:00 p.m.

Kevin was born on September 23, 1951, in Volga, SD, to Clint and Bonnie (Elverud) Hakeman. / He attended and graduated from Madison High School. / He then attended Dakota State College in Madison where he got his undergraduate degree. /
He obtained his Master's Degree at Northern State College.
On May 29, 1976, Kevin married Joan Muth in rural Madison, SD. The couple moved to Watertown where Kevin taught at Grant/Jefferson School for twenty-one years.
In 2005, he was diagnosed with Huntington's disease. / Throughout his illness, he had a positive outlook and lived his life courageously.
Kevin was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. He was also a lifetime and active member of the Elks.
He enjoyed hunting. / He also enjoyed morning coffee with his friends. / His grandchildren brought joy into his life.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Watertown, SD; children: Travis (Jen) Hakeman of Sioux Falls, SD, and Megan Hakeman of Watertown; two grandchildren: Mason and Harlen; his mother, Bonnie Hakeman, of Madison, SD; and two brothers: Keith (Diane) Hakeman of Rapid City, SD, and Kim Hakeman of Madison, SD."
