- Charles H. Chuck Barg, 74, of Brookings, SD died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Brookview Manor, Brookings, SD. Funeral services have been set for 11:00am, Monday, March, 15, 2010 at First Lutheran Church, Brookings. Visitation will be Sunday, March, 14, 2010 from 2pm to 5pm at Rudes Funeral Home.
Charles H. Chuck Barg was born on July 18, 1935 in White, South Dakota the son of Harold and Bernice (Murphy) Barg.
Chuck received his education in White, SD and was a graduate of the White High School in 1954. He continued his education at SDSU. He then served in the United States Army from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1958.
Chuck was united in marriage to Verlie Rishoi on November 26, 1960 in Aurora, SD. He was employed at various places until 1963 when he worked for Hiland Potato Chip Company as a salesperson until his retirement in 1993. Chuck was also employed by the Brookings School System as a bus driver for many years, and the children loved him.
Chuck passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the age of 74.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Brookings, and the Elks. He enjoyed gardening and playing cards. He loved being in the outdoors and really enjoyed fishing and hunting. Spending time with his family, friends, and little children were very important to Chuck.
Chuck is survived by his wife Verlie of Brookings, SD; one son Tim of Brookings, SD; four sisters Mary Margaret Grant (Donald) of Clouquet, MN, Janet Kjelden of Brookings, SD, Suellin Lutterman (Larry) of Brookings, SD, Melodee Buresh (Conrad) of Cando, ND; two brothers Rick Barg (Marva) of Sioux Falls, SD Fred Barg (Peggy) of Garretson, SD; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son (Emil Roy), one brother (Robert), and one sister Doris and her husband Dick, and one brother-in-law Don Kjelden.
