- Paul Karl Voelxen, Jr. was born on December 12, 1923 in Albany, NY. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Hyde. They just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on November 16. Paul was a US Navy veteran in World War II, volunteering for service on December 12, 1941, on his eighteenth birthday. While stationed in Jacksonville, FL, Pensacola, FL and Norfolk, VA he trained stateside as an aircraft mechanic. While stateside he also married his wife, Helen on November 16, 1942. After completing his training and stateside service, he was transferred to the Pacific theater on Guam. After the war ended, he returned to his wife, who at the time was living in Albany. Shortly thereafter Paul was hired as a lineman for the New York Telephone Company. At the phone company, Paul worked his way up in the organization and retired after 30 years as an Engineer. After Paul's retirement, Paul and Helen moved to Palm Beach Leisureville, where they lived until his passing. At Leisureville, Paul was heavily involved in many community organizations and committees including Chairman of the Golf Committee from 2002 to 2008; he was a member of the Leisureville Board of Directors; he was President of his condo group prior to the purchase of their home; made tickets for several Leisureville clubs and events; took pictures for shows and other events for the community paper. Paul and Helen were also members of the First United Methodist Church in Boynton Beach, where Paul served as an usher. He is survived by his wife, Helen; his sister, Emily (husband, Bert Rapoport) from Albany, NY; his two sons, David (wife, Carol) from Windsor, NH and Jim (wife, Suzanne) from East Sandwich, MA. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, 101 N.
