574 "Allen "Al" Flitcraft, 95, of Wilmette, Illinois, peacefully passed away on July 19, 2022 at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, Illinois. Al was born on August 6, 1926 to Alice Blackburn and Harold Flitcraft in Oak Park, Illinois. He was the eldest of three siblings.
Fostering a sense of compassion in him from a young age, Al's family housed Ernst Turk, a Jew who had fled Germany, at their River Forest home in the early 1940s. As part of their Quaker heritage, the Flitcraft family was concerned for the disadvantaged, downtrodden and or prejudiced peoples of society.
Al graduated from Oak Park High School in 1944 then served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946 where he was stationed in Hawaii at Fort Armstrong. Following his service, he studied at the University of Illinois School of Business and graduated in 1950.
Later that year, he began his career with IBM in sales for the Electric Typewriter Division and retired in 1992 as CEO of TransUnion Credit Information Company.
He married the love of his life, Jane Hagelund, in 1952 and became an amazing father to two sons.

579 "ALTAMONT, Duchesne County — Police have released the name of the man who was shot and killed at a shooting range this week.
Rocky Mecham, 61, of Mountain Home, Duchesne County, died after being hit while marking targets for shooters at a range in the small town of Altamont, the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators have said the shooting was not intentional. Mecham was on a target shooting outing with at least two other men when a "communications error occurred," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
The man who accidentally shot Mecham is Greg Timothy, 64, of Altamont, according to the sheriff's office.
Mecham was the second man in the span of four days to die while spotting for target shooters in Utah. James Shurtz, 27, died Saturday after his father accidentally shot and killed him while target shooting near Snowville, Box Elder County."

580 "ALTAMONT, Utah, Feb. 24, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The second Utah man killed within a week as a result of a target shooting accident has been identified.
61-year-old Rocky Mecham of Mountain Home was shot while acting as a target spotter at private ranch in Duchesne County.
The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 8:45 a.m. in a location where Mecham had been marking targets for two other men who were practicing long-range shooting.
According to deputies, there appeared to be some sort of communication error and Greg Timothy, 64, of Altamont, accidentally shot Mecham.
Mecham was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.
Tuesday’s shooting death was the second target-shooting fatality in Utah in the last four days.Rocky Lee Mecham, age 61, of Mountain Home, was killed in a tragic accidental shooting on February 23, 2016.
He was born June 22, 1954, in Roosevelt, to Glenn B. and Nelda Irene Beal Mecham and graduated from Altamont High School in 1972. He married the love of his life and best friend, Kim Caldwell, on April 5, 1975, in Elko, Nevada.
Rocky was an avid outdoors man and hunter who worked in the oilfield in his spare time. He began his career in the hot oil industry in 1975 and worked for Shell, UTEX, Coastal, and El Paso all without ever leaving the same building. He then worked for Berry Petroleum and finally Newfield – he was just starting to embrace his forced “retirement.” Even though hunting was his passion, fishing was NOT – he had no patience for it because fish couldn’t be tracked and he had to take someone else’s word that they were in there. He was a basketball and baseball coach at one time or another to most of the kids in the Upper Country area – sometimes from the bench, sometimes from the sidelines. In his younger years, snowmobile racing was a favorite pastime and he was very successful at it. He cleared the ridge on his property so he could care for and watch the wildlife that frequented that area.
Other than his wife, there really was nothing he loved more than his children and grandchildren, and being with them (even if it was for just 5 or 10 minutes at a time). He’d follow them wherever their various competitions and performances took them. He also never met a stranger – he had new best friends everywhere!
Rocky is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Kim; children, Kristy Lee (Thad) Nalder, Syracuse; Zakry B. (Stephanie) Mecham, Roosevelt; Mikki Ann (Dustin) Mecham-McLaughlin, Roosevelt; Michelle (Wes) Casper, Roosevelt; eight grandchildren; mother, Nelda Mecham, Neola; mother-in-law, JoAnne Caldwell, Vernal; sisters, Gail (Shane) Gardner, Neola; Sherry (Gary) Stringham, Tabiona; and a brother, Rodney Glenn Mecham, Tooele.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn and father-in-law, Mick Caldwell.
Funeral services were held Feb. 29 at the Mountain Home LDS Chapel.
Burial was in the Mountain Home - Boneta Cemetery." (gengivet i Findagrave-com)
