"He was born March 29, 1922 in Mt. Emmons, Utah to LeRoy W. and Clara Bracken Rust. He married Ona Rae Mecham February 8, 1941 in Mt. Home. Anthon was an active member of the LDS Church and the Cattlemans Association where he was honored in 1998 as the Senior Cattleman of the Year. His life revolved around livestock and he loved to attend stock shows, bull sales, and the like. He also enjoyed going to horse races and chariot races. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the local American Legion group. He particularly loved his children and grandchildren and liked going to their sports and other activities.
He is survived by his wife, Ona, of Altamont; children and spouses, Melba and Farrell Markham, Altamont; Blake and Peggy Rust, Altonah; grandchildren, Wendi, Lloyd and Brenda Markham, JoAnn Hill, Terri Rust and A. C. Rust; and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Erwin and Dorthy Rust, Altamont. He was preceded in death by brothers, Guy Rust and LaVon Chapman; sisters, Zella Bennion, Fern Powell and Mable Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 18th at the Altamont LDS Stake Center where friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Altamont Cemetery under the direction of the Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary with military honors by the local American Legion Post."
